You know things are serious when even the Kiwi’s are giving the Aussie cricketers a good pasting. It’s not surprising they are in this predicament when their vice captain, Michael Clarke would rather be with fiancée Lara Bingle than sing the team song after a rare win during the summer.

I mean we can’t really blame him – who wouldn’t want to head off home with Lara Bingle – however as leader of the team he should be setting a better example.

Simon Katich certainly thought so and he protested Clarke’s actions by grabbing him by the throat in the dressing room. Shocked teammates had to separate the duo. The altercation rattled the Aussies in the middle of a lackluster summer of in which they lost a Test and one-day series to South Africa.

Now the Aussies are facing a series loss to the Kiwi’s in the one dayers which is not good form leading into a big year of cricket including a tour of South Africa as well as the Ashes.

The only was I see Australia improving things in the short term is bringing back Dean Jones and Warnie.
